After more than a year since its release, Windows 7 has now achieved one important milestone, at least in the US.
According to the latest results, it appears that Windows XP isn’t the dominant operating system in the United States anymore and the throne has been claimed by Windows 7. According to the results, the ten-year-old operating system lost its market share in April 2011 and Windows XP currently holds 31.56% of the market share.
Although Windows 7 is now the dominant operating system in United States, it is barely in front of Windows XP with 31.71% of market share. As for the third place, it is reserved for Windows Vista which holds 19.07% of the market, while fourth place goes to Mac OS X with 14.87%. Last but not least is Linux with only 0.7% of the market share.
Anyhow, this is a great milestone for Windows 7, it really goes to show how successful its been compared to Windows Vista.
