Intel launches dedicated processor for tablet PCs

Intel, the world’s largest producer of microprocessors, has launched its Intel Atom platform, codenamed “Oak Trail”, which will equip 35 of tablet PCs starting next month.

Over 35 innovative tablets and other devices created by companies such as Evolve III, Fujitsu Limited, Lenovo, Motion Computing, Razer and Viliv will be based on “Oak Trail”.
In addition, at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, the company will preview its upcoming 32nm Intel Atom platform, codenamed “Cedar Trail”. This solution will allow a new range of innovative devices, quiet, fanless – netbooks, entry-level desktops and all-in-one PCs.
Intel Atom Z670 allows applications to run on different operating systems, including Google Android, Windows and MeeGo. This unique flexibility provides new experiences and provides more options when it comes to Tablet PCs and other equipment.
The next generation of this platform, called Cedar Trail, will be based on the Intel 32 nm manufacturing technology and will include improvements to graphics capabilities, including support for Blu-ray 2.0, the average engine dedicated to full 1080p playback and options for digital display including HDMI and DisplayPort.
